My Story

My name is Jeevan A.
I was born and brought up in a Hindu family. Until the age of 14, I lived according to Hindu traditions and rituals.

When I was between 2 and 4 years old, I was attacked by a severe sickness — tuberculosis. In those days, there was no proper medicine, and doctors gave up hope that I would survive. My family took me to a hostel hospital in Bangalore. At my final stage, one of my relatives came to that hospital as part of a ministry that prayed for the sick. By God’s plan, she met me there, cried out to God, and prayed for me. At that very moment, God touched me and gave me new life.

When I came back home, my family never told me the truth. They said that a Hindu goddess, Marriyamma, had healed me. The truth was hidden. So I continued to worship many Indian gods and goddesses, following all the rituals every year. We celebrated the Marriyamma festival faithfully, without fail.
But life at home was like living in hell. My father was a drunkard. Every day there were fights. My mother tried to commit suicide three times right in front of us, but by the grace of God, she survived each time.
We didn’t have a proper house — we lived in a rented one with holes in the roof. On rainy days, we couldn’t even sleep. We had no proper food or clothes. From my childhood, I had to go to work, and it was a very painful life.

My parents could not support my education, so during school holidays I used to work — as a carpenter, making tomato boxes, welding, gardening, working as a bus conductor, and so on. From 5th standard onwards, I worked to earn little money to buy books and help my family. I never lived life like other children.

In my village, children used to go to Sunday classes, so I also went sometimes to see what they were teaching. There I heard the Gospel — that Jesus is God, the true and living God, who loves me and my family. I began to pray, “If Jesus is the true God, let Him change my family situation and change my father.”
By God’s grace, our family situation began to change.

I stayed with my family until 10th standard. Then I was sent to a hostel for six years to finish my studies. During hostel life, I struggled a lot and was beaten by the hostel in-charge. It was a Catholic hostel, and I didn’t find truth or love there either. I kept asking, “How can I be delivered?”
Then God began to speak to me through the Bible verse John 8:32 — “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
That became the turning point of my life. I decided to hold on to God’s feet and stand firm in His calling.

After 20 years, I finally came to know who had prayed for me when I was dying of tuberculosis. It was my aunty — her faith and tears reached God, and He touched me. Now I know who the true living God is. I committed my life fully to serve Him.

Finally, I submitted myself to God completely. His call came very strongly upon my life — to serve Him and obey His voice. I went to Bible college, and my family situation gradually changed. My father stopped drinking, and all of us in our family took baptism together. Now we are living as a testimony in our village of Indiranagar.

By the grace of God, I have completed C.Th, B.Th, and M.Div, and I am now serving full time in ministry as an independent pastor.
By God’s grace, I am pioneering churches around Kolar District, shepherding the congregations, and raising godly leaders. I also serve poor people — widows, orphans, and slum dwellers — by providing education, food, and shelter.
My vision is to serve the needy and bring transformation to their lives — to show them a better life and eternal life through Jesus Christ, preaching and teaching the Word to the nations.

All the glory to God!

God’s servant,
Pr. Jeevan A.
